As the title mentions, this is my third post relating solely to the drone category and again, if you haven’t checked the other posts you can click here for the first one and here for the second one. Introductions are no longer necessary I guess and below are my list of places I recently ‘droned’ about.
The Pyramids of Plaine Magnien
Recently I dedicated a whole post to this place, and if summarized, I can say that I wanted to obtain those famous pyramids of Plaine Magnien from a different angle and one Saturday early morning I headed towards the south. I did different shots of those pyramids and at the end I even did a selfie with them…
The Meandering Road of Plaine Champagne
Plaine Champagne is well known island-wise for the abundant guava trees overgrown much everywhere and in early winter season it is practically a family event for most Mauritians to gather and pluck these fruits freely. In the past I found an inner path which unfortunately I don’t know where it leads to but the way it turned left and right and left and so on looked interesting, and got on my drone bucketlist. For this shot somehow I selected only part of it but it extends even more in that way.
The Car Cemetery at Mare D’Albert
This same day I went to Plaine Magnien I noticed lots of cars being dumped and guarded near some sugar cane fields, and while I was trying to take a closer look lots of dogs was barking. It must been a well guarded place I believed…to what extent?? Let’s take a closer look from the other direction: from the air!
The Sewage Treatment Plants of La Chaumiere
From my earlier trips at Pointe Aux Sables, I understood there was some kind of sewage treatment plant near the prison and while searching further, I came to know there was another one not too far. One early morning, before going to office, I stopped at La Chaumiere, near Gros Cailloux and flew the drone in the air to obtain this pattern of the gigantic treatment plants. It looks like a giant DJ turntable seen from the air! No?
The Mouchoir Rouge Island at Mahebourg
In my previous drone post, I did a shot of the Cavendish bridge, and probably I mentioned heading to the waterfront to get a top view of the island too but it was too windy etc etc… another attempt the next day was successful and this is what it gave! I really loved how this little island looked from above.
The Senneville Bridge at Riviere des Anguilles
Ok ok, this is an old shot as well but only recently posted. With relevance to my 2nd drone post again, this same day I went to drone the Eau Bleue waterfalls I also headed towards Riviere Des Anguilles afterwards to get a top view of this old bridge I met long ago while on an assignment to track the lost railways of the past. Of course at that time I had no drone and only a normal camera, but still I didn’t forget this bridge because I was ridiculously amazed by its height with regards to its width! It was a very narrow bridge allowing one vehicle at a time and quite high indeed.
The Spillway of Bagatelle Dam
Bagatelle Dam as many must certainly know has only recently been in operation and that too isn’t completely operational in the sense that there are still works being done onsite. When the main construction ended some months ago, the dam was filled from the river and as the water level rose, many people was wondering how would that look when the spillway overflowed, and I was also among those wondering people. At lunch time some days ago, I headed there with the intention to get some drone shots but this vast area of water creates some kind of very strong winds, and I couldn’t get the drone up, or simply didn’t wanted to take the risk. I did some other normal shots and decided to come again the next day. The next day the wind was still very strong but I took the risk and got the aerial vehicle up in the air. I could see the drone drifting heavily with the strong wind and before things got out of control I only snapped this and a few others before landing, and that too, I had to catch the drone with my hand while still in mid air! Never
again!
Les Salines Fish Landing Station
It’s been years that I visit this nice garden at Les Salines in Port Louis since I work not too far, and at times we even have lunch there, but this time I wanted to obtain a top view of those chinese ships in the harbour and took the drone around, but unfortunately on this day due to landfill works at the Barkly Island they changed parking place. Somehow, I decided to capture those small boats of the fishermen instead and kept the initial plan for another occasion.
Tea Farming at Bois Cheri
This is also an old shot I did some times ago since I wanted to see how these hard-working ladies looked from this angle. I must say that it does look a bit abstract but this is actually two women plucking tea leaves in the tea fields around Bois Cheri Tea Estate.
Bikers Crossing at Medine
Two weeks ago I headed towards Medine Distillery to capture the palm trees of the alley at sunset and this was a candid drone shot while in the air… and it turned out that the trees didn’t look that good since the sun was too low when I went there. At the end I preferred those bikers with their shadows instead of the palm trees.
