Europe Trip – Nantes

Arriving in Nantes from Paris was quite a surprise in the sense that those two cities were kind-of worlds apart. Nantes is much smaller of course but the lifestyle is very different. Life looks to be on the peaceful side and even the mindset is different; people are more courteous and welcoming. The city feels safer too. Reaching there around mid-day, we went for a quick stroll around the city and I loved every moment of it.

During these summer days (August), the artist Stéphane Vigny displayed a lot of statues around the fountain of Place Royale and to say, it was very artistic. I was amazed by all these sculptures and how beautiful it looked.

We continued the stroll towards Passage Pommeraye, Place Graslin, and much others (referenced in each image’s name), and paused at L’Octopus Bar for a sip.

Afterwards went for an electric boat trip at Ruban Vert on the Loire River, a full hour of delight. It was already 8pm when we moved back home for dinner.

But before that, for a quick moment I rushed towards Place Buffay for some low-light shots and evening photography. I must admit, the night life in this part of the city was very cozy.

The next morning we went to visit the Natural History Museum, which I recommend, and had lunch at La Loco. If you are a fan of cheesecake, don’t forget to try theirs, highly recommended! After that we went to visit the Castle of the Dukes of Bretagne to finish off at Machines des Iles along the way.

To finish the day I went to enjoy a panoramic tour over the Tour Bretagne to enjoy a bird-eye view over the city and admire the french sunset.

The next morning was our last day and since we had an early train to catch, the only thing we could do was to enjoy the 15 minutes walk to the train station via the Botanical Garden.

Next destination: Back to Paris, but 8th Arrondissement!
